Good Morning From Lutz,
We had quite a week of weather around here already, with storms rolling through earlier in the week and even a couple tornadoes touching down across the area. Looks like we may get a few more scattered showers this weekend too, which honestly isn’t the worst thing after how dry things had started feeling.
The PGA Championship is underway, local events are packed this weekend, and things around North Tampa definitely aren’t slowing down heading into summer. Hope you all have a great weekend and get a chance to enjoy some of it.
-Mike

At this point, The Hub is shaping up to be less of a traditional strip center and more of an active hangout spot along the State Road 54 corridor, especially once the event programming and outdoor gathering spaces fully come online later this year.
Wiregrass Plans Huge Memorial Weekend Party
Looks like Memorial Day weekend is going to be pretty packed at The Shops at Wiregrass. The center is hosting a free “Great American Block Party” on Saturday, May 23 from 3–7 PM, with family-friendly activities spread throughout the property and the newly renovated Center Court.

Expect yard games, putt-putt, chalk art, a live DJ, vintage cars, and appearances from the Pasco Sheriff’s Explorer Program, K9s, mounted patrol, and specialty vehicles. The night wraps up with a free outdoor concert from Homegrown, a Zac Brown Band tribute group, from 7–9 PM. It’s also pet-friendly, so it feels like one of those easy local events where you can just walk around, hang out, and make an evening of it.

More Changes Coming To SR 52
If you’ve driven through the Interstate 75 and State Road 52 interchange lately, you’ve probably already noticed construction picking up. FDOT has officially started a $2.1 million improvement project that will add new turn lanes, rework ramps, and widen parts of the interchange to help handle the steady growth happening around San Antonio and eastern Pasco.
The project is expected to run through late summer or early fall, with additional long-term widening projects for SR 52 already in the pipeline over the next few years.
St. Leo Residents Push Back Hard
A pretty major development proposal in St. Leo just hit a wall this week. Town commissioners voted 4-0 against a plan from Ryan Homes that would have replaced the longtime Abbey Golf Course with 628 homes, including single-family houses and townhomes.

Residents and leaders from Saint Leo University showed up in force, saying the project would dramatically change the feel of the small town and add even more traffic to an already fast-growing area. The golf course has been part of the community for more than 60 years, and many locals see it as one of the last remaining open green spaces nearby.
More Indoor Golf Coming North Of Tampa
Since we were already on the golf simulator topic above, it looks like even more indoor golf concepts are continuing to spread around North Tampa. Back Nine Carrollwood officially opened earlier this month and is built more like a 24/7 golf gym than a sports bar, with simulator bays focused on practice and play year-round.
The article also mentions additional locations being explored in Odessa and Wesley Chapel, while places like The Clubhouse at The Hub at Lexington and Good Vibes Golf in Lutz continue adding to the growing indoor golf scene across the area.
