Happy Friday, Neighbors. Remember that small hill you and your friends used to roll down as kids? Well, in England this week, they took that idea, added a dangerously steep incline, and sent a wheel of cheese flying down it. A crowd of adults followed, sent on their dairy way trying to catch it.

In the Cooper’s Hill cheese race, the cheese wins. Everyone else just rolls, crashes, and limps away a little more legendary.

Hockey Heals 22 Returns to Wesley Chapel
Fresh off Memorial Day, here's a meaningful way to continue honoring our veterans.

The 5th Annual Hockey Heals 22 event is set for Saturday, June 21 at 2 PM through Sunday, June 22 at noon at AdventHealth Center Ice in Wesley Chapel. This 22-hour hockey marathon raises awareness about the tragic statistic that an average of 22 veterans die by suicide each day.

Hosted by the Lightning Warriors Hockey Program, the event features continuous games played by veterans, first responders, and local teams. Special guests include former NHL player Ryan Malone, who will join the veterans on the ice, and America’s Got Talent semi-finalist Ben Voigt, who will perform the National Anthem during the opening ceremony.

Proceeds benefit organizations such as The Malone Family Foundation and Mission Roll Call, both dedicated to veteran support and mental health advocacy .

Admission is free, and no registration is required. Whether you stay for a short while or the entire marathon, your presence supports the cause.

Patel Charter School Scraps Trinity Plans
Plans for a new charter high school in Trinity have been canceled. The Patel Foundation pulled out after hitting timeline issues and disagreeing with a clause that would return the land to the school district if the school ever closed.

The campus was expected to open in 2026 and serve 1,300 students.

$27M Social Club Coming to Two Rivers
The Two Rivers master-planned community in southeast Pasco County is set to feature a $27 million social club named The Landing. This 23,000-square-foot facility will offer amenities such as pickleball and tennis courts, a wellness center, two pools (including a resort-style pool with a water slide), and a casual restaurant with poolside service.

An event lawn is also planned for live music and movie nights. Construction is expected to begin later this year, with a grand opening anticipated in late 2026.

Membership will be exclusive to residents of certain villages within Two Rivers, with limited opportunities for others to apply.

Twisted Rolls Chimney Cake in New Tampa
New Tampa’s got a sweet new treat spot. We stopped by on Wednesday night and had a great time. Everything was quick, delicious, and the service was spot on. After watching other people walk by with their orders, we couldn’t help but wonder if we should’ve tried something else too!

Twisted Rolls Chimney Cake opened its doors on April 28 at 19406 Bruce B Downs Blvd, bringing Hungarian chimney cakes (aka kürtőskalács) to the neighborhood. These spiral pastries are baked fresh, filled with ice cream, and come in fun flavors like Oreo, pistachio, and Fruity Pebbles.

The menu also features crepes, waffles, mini pancakes, smoothies, and Italian sodas. This is the Instagram reel that lured me in. The guy in the photo above was trying to get me to try the shakes too. This is going to require a second trip.

Remington’s Steak & Seafood Reopens on Bearss
Remington’s Steak & Seafood is back at its original spot on Bearss Avenue, now open in The Palms Connection plaza. Owned by Mark Birkin (also behind Birkin’s Steak & Sushi in Lutz), the newly renovated space offers a casual steakhouse vibe with a solid lineup of "Choice+" steaks, seafood, and hearty comfort food.

Now Open: EōS Fitness in Land O’ Lakes
If you’ve driven past the Village Lakes Shopping Center on SR 54 and spotted a big new gym, you’re not seeing things. EōS Fitness opened its second Land O’ Lakes location on Tuesday, May 7.

It’s open 24/7 and has all the bells and whistles with indoor turf for functional workouts, group classes like yoga and Zumba, a cinema room for movie-style cardio, plus saunas, hot tubs, and a Kids’ Club.

Memberships start at just $9.99/month, and yes, the original Argosy Dr location is still going strong. As you can see, I’m pretty pumped:

Brothers Pest Control Joins National Brand
Land O’ Lakes-based Brothers Pest Control, founded by brothers Chad and Sean Bruening back in 2008, has officially been acquired by Turf Masters Brands, a national lawn care company expanding into Florida.

It’s great news all around but even better, the team, name, and local service aren’t going anywhere. Known for treating customers like family and keeping Tampa Bay lawns lush and pest-free, Brothers will continue operating just as locals know and trust.

They’ll now have access to national resources while staying rooted right here in our neighborhoods. Congrats to the Bruening brothers!
