Good Morning Neighbor,
Thankfully, the hurricane stayed well away from us, and we only had a few downed branches around here. But all this rain we've had lately has legitimately created a brand-new lake at the entrance to our neighborhood. I'm sure it'll eventually drain, but after seeing that, I can only imagine what another hurricane like the one we had a couple of years ago would do. Might require some old-school water management!
Meanwhile, the Rays are down one game to none against the bad guys from Cleveland. Not exactly the start we were hoping for, but there's plenty of baseball left. And at least the Dodgers are down two games to none, so there's that!

Sad News for Breaking Bad Fans
Breaking Bad was one of those shows I always had in my back pocket to watch someday, and I finally got around to finishing it recently. So this one really caught my attention. RJ Mitte, who played Walter White Jr., passed away yesterday at just 34 years old. He had cerebral palsy in real life, just like his character, and did a lot of good work advocating for people with disabilities. Really sad to hear, especially at such a young age.

Local Markets Bring Shopping Outdoors Again
Florida Avenue Brewing hosted its Second Sunday Market in the beer garden, giving neighbors a chance to browse local vendors while enjoying the brewery. Over at The Grove, the Harvest Market featured around 90 merchants offering fresh produce, handmade goods, accessories, and more. With the Harvest Market back on the calendar, it's another option for shopping local as the season gets underway.

Gem and Jewelry Show Returns to Tampa
Here's something a little different for the family! The Tampa Bay Mineral and Science Club is hosting its 67th Annual Gem, Mineral, and Jewelry Show at the Florida Fairgrounds on November 7–8. More than 60 vendors will have gemstones, jewelry, beads, and unique rocks on display, plus a kids' area with scavenger hunts, rock identification, and other activities.
Admission is $8 for adults, $7 for seniors and military, and free for kids 12 and under. Parking is additional. More details here.

Two New Schools Planned Near Wesley Chapel
More schools are on the drawing board for our growing area. Pasco County Schools is planning Two Rivers K-8 and a yet-to-be-named high school, both targeted to open in August 2028. The goal is to help relieve overcrowding in the Wesley Chapel area.
Interestingly, while some parts of eastern Pasco continue to grow, overall enrollment across the county has actually declined over the past five years, affecting the district's funding for staffing.
Tampa Joe's Getting Ready in Wesley Chapel
Another restaurant is getting closer to opening at The Hub at Lexington Oaks! Tampa Joe's is putting the finishing touches on its new 5,000-square-foot sports bar, which will have room for around 300 people and an outdoor patio. The menu includes pizza, wings, and bacon-wrapped beef tips, but the real eye-catcher might be the massive 20-foot video wall planned above the bar. No opening date has been announced yet.
