Happy Haunting! A Virginia family got quite the Halloween scare when their doorbell camera captured three creepy costumed figures creeping up to their porch, sparking a full police investigation. It turned out not to be a break-in at all but a prank pulled by their own relatives that could have ended much worse.

Hearts of Pasco: Good Neighbors Giving Back

You’ve probably seen some of their events in our calendar. Subaru of Wesley Chapel just donated $12,000 to help shelter pets still waiting for homes after Hurricane Milton. They even helped 12 pups find families during a volunteer day at the Humane Society of Tampa Bay. Love to see local businesses doing good.

The Pasco Women’s Giving Circle has now given over $100,000 to local charities in just four years. Their next meeting is Nov. 12 in New Port Richey, where neighbors pitch causes and vote on the spot. That’s hometown generosity in action.

Pasco’s Tax Collector’s Office raised $6,000 for the Heart Gallery, which uses photos to help foster kids find forever families. It’s a simple idea making a big difference for children right here in our community.

Morningside Drive Extension Moves Forward

Dade City commissioners gave initial approval to a project that will create a new connector between U.S. 301 and Fort King Road, improving traffic flow and access through town. The office building and home on the site are slated for demolition, with final approvals expected after second readings later this year before construction begins.

Hey Parents, Pasco’s Flag Football Boom Is On

If your kids have energy to burn and love a little Friday night action, check out Under The Lights Flag Football. Founded by former Buccaneer Alex Smith, the league has quickly grown from 250 to more than 500 players and now includes a second site at Starkey Ranch Park, where six new fields of fresh sod were just added to an already busy complex for football, soccer, and baseball. It’s become a favorite for families who want a fun, no-tackle way to keep kids active under the lights.

Even better, the league welcomes everyone with coed and all-girls divisions from pre-K through middle school. Smith and his team are already planning to bring the excitement to Wesley Chapel next, showing how strong the love for flag football is in Pasco. For families looking for something that blends teamwork, fun, and Friday night lights, this is the place to be.

City of Zephyrhills Earns High Marks for Financial Strength

Fitch Ratings gave Zephyrhills an AA rating with a stable outlook on its new $30.9 million capital improvement bonds. The funds will support a new public works facility and upgrades at Zephyr Park (they are doing a lot to this park). The city’s strong reserves, equal to 101 percent of annual spending, and steady population growth show that Zephyrhills is managing its finances wisely while keeping up with local growth. Awesome news!

Pasco County Animal Services Presents: Bud Bexley

Bud Bexley (A037980) arrived at PCAS at the beginning of September. Bud was found as a stray when he approached a group of children waiting at their school bus stop. Bud is a friendly guy who is unfortunately not thriving at the shelter. He has become increasingly depressed and would benefit from finding a home before his kennel stress becomes severe. Bud Bexley is a 1-year old mixed breed neutered male weighing 57 pounds. He is an affectionate power-leaner who loves people, but would need to be an “only dog” in a home.
