Good Morning Neighbor,
The rain finally showed up, everything's looking a little greener, and it sounds like the burn bans will start easing soon. That's welcome news after the dry stretch we've had.
It's also been fun having the World Cup here in the U.S. What a cool atmosphere.
Now let's catch up on what's happening around North Tampa. 🌴

Hockey Heals 22 Gives Back
Our community came together once again for Hockey Heals 22 at AdventHealth Center Ice, raising awareness for veteran suicide prevention while supporting organizations that serve military veterans. Former Buccaneers coach Jon Gruden, former Lightning player Ryan Malone, and other local sports figures joined the 22-hour hockey marathon.
The event raised money through raffles, auctions, merchandise, and sponsorships, with the Black Dagger Military Hunt Club and Operation Healing Forces each receiving $5,000 during the opening ceremonies.

New Tampa Blvd. Repaving Finally Moving
Anyone who drives New Tampa Blvd. has probably noticed the rough pavement over the years. The City of Tampa is finally moving forward with a $2.5 million project to repave the 1.8-mile stretch between Meadow Pine Drive and Bruce B. Downs Boulevard.
The project also includes upgraded crosswalks, new roadway signs, and ADA-compliant curb ramps, giving one of the area's busiest roads a long-awaited refresh.
USF Set to Reveal New Stadium Update Today
Big news could be on the way for USF football fans.
University of South Florida leaders are scheduled to provide an update today on the school's long-awaited on-campus football stadium. During the presentation, they'll share the latest on construction progress, reveal new details about premium seating options, and discuss what's ahead for the project.
The new stadium carries a $348.5 million price tag and is expected to open in time for the 2027 football season. Once complete, it will give the Bulls a permanent home on campus for the first time in program history.

Michael Penix Jr. Gives Back Home
We're proud to call Michael Penix Jr. one of our Pasco neighbors. The Atlanta Falcons quarterback returned to Dade City for the second year in a row to host a free youth football camp at Mickens Field, where he grew up playing the game.
About 270 kids took part in football drills, caught passes from Penix, and spent the day learning from one of their own. Penix said he hopes coming back gives local kids the confidence to dream big and see what's possible.
$70M MOSI Project Moves Forward
Big changes could be coming to the area around MOSI. Hillsborough County is moving ahead with contract negotiations for a new $70 million indoor sports field house that will anchor a much larger redevelopment of the 73-acre site near USF.
The plans include restaurants, entertainment, retail, a hotel, and additional attractions like a planetarium, theater, film studio, and a potential ice rink. Construction is expected to begin later this year, with the field house targeted to open in summer 2028.

Major Expansion Coming to AdventHealth
More healthcare services are on the way for Carrollwood. AdventHealth Carrollwood is preparing to break ground on a major expansion that includes a six-story patient tower, new inpatient beds, expanded surgical areas, a cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology lab, and a new parking garage.
Hospital leaders say the project is designed to meet the area's growing demand for advanced medical care, helping more patients receive treatment closer to home. The parking garage is expected to open first, with the expanded hospital projected to welcome patients in 2029.
Cross Creek Park Is Finally Open
After nearly a decade of planning, New Tampa's new Cross Creek Park is officially open. The $8.6 million park features a 16,000-square-foot recreation center with a gym, fitness room, classrooms, outdoor basketball courts, a renovated playground, and more across its 15-acre campus.
The recreation center opens July 6, and summer camp is already full with a waiting list. The park is also recognizing two local girls whose efforts helped protect ospreys at the site, with one of the new nesting poles dedicated in their honor.

Pasco County Animal Services Presents: Daisy

Daisy (A045483) is still in her puppy era! She’s just over a year old and has sweet puppy girl energy. Daisy is experiencing kennel stress – it’s difficult to be a young and energetic at a shelter with limited time playing outdoors. Our team has worked on socializing Daisy in Play Group, but she has a ways to go. Daisy is also a “Project Pet” – our volunteers have been giving her extra enrichment and a training schedule. Daisy is learning to walk well on leash, she is learning manners when her kennel is approached, and it is doing wonders for her! Daisy also LOVES water and recently went swimming during a field trip! (Special thanks to Stronger Shot Adoption Photos for Daisy’s glowup!)
