Many Pasco County leaders and a few politicians got together this week to set priorities for the upcoming state session, with a focus on safety, flooding, and smoother travel. The list includes:

• A new decon truck for Fire Rescue

• A Veterinary Resource Center with affordable pet care

• Flood fixes in Sea Pines and Beacon Square

• A hardened community shelter in Dade City

• Safer access at the East Pasco courthouse

• Sidewalks in Shady Hills

• The Rangeland connector road

• Two new traffic lights on the east side

• Law tweaks to restore anonymous code complaints and keep storm-recovery rules aimed at hurricane victims, not developers

Bagels Popping Up in Carrollwood

The buzzworthy PopUp Bagels chain, fresh off opening its first Tampa spot in Westshore, is headed to Carrollwood this November. Known for its “grip, rip, and dip” bagel style and rotating schmears, the shop brings another foodie favorite closer to home for north Tampa neighbors.

AdventHealth Expands Training Space for Future Physicians

It’s something special to see AdventHealth investing so deeply in our community’s future. The hospital has opened an expanded Graduate Medical Education space for its Family Medicine Residency program, adding exam rooms, a procedure room, and new offices to give medical residents the tools and setting they need for hands-on training and quality patient care.

This project is part of a larger hospital expansion finishing in December, which will add over 80,000 square feet, new surgical suites, advanced imaging, and boost bed capacity from 169 to 193. Since opening in 2012, AdventHealth Wesley Chapel has earned national recognition for safety and patient satisfaction — and this latest step ensures both top-notch care today and a strong pipeline of future doctors for our growing community.

Tampa Airport Takes Off with $584M Expansion

Tampa International Airport is rolling out $584 million in upgrades, including a new centralized baggage system and a redesigned ticketing area. The baggage system, set to finish in 2028, will automate luggage routing to speed things up and cut delays, while $285 million will go toward more self-check-in kiosks and expanded space on the ticketing level by 2029.

For frequent flyers in our community, this means quicker check-ins, fewer lost bags, and an airport that’s keeping pace with Tampa Bay’s growth.

Rays Eye Possible Stadium Site at HCC

Well, this is an endless rumor mill… Hillsborough Community College’s Dale Mabry campus is being floated as a possible site for a future stadium. Commissioner Ken Hagan says the location’s proximity to Raymond James, the airport, and major roads could turn it into a true sports hub with plenty of parking and room for development.

Ybor City is still in the mix, but leaders say Tampa has the inside track if a site can be agreed upon. For fans across Tampa Bay, the momentum is building to keep the Rays local, and neighbors will be watching closely as decisions unfold in the weeks ahead.
