Plus: New traffic tech aims to ease congestion, Amalie Arena gets a new name and $3M pledge, and local Chamber leader earns national honor

Good Morning Neighbor. A Maryland horse learned the hard way that not all wooden planks are meant for walking. After the plank gave way, firefighters and a crane were called in to hoist the hefty escape artist from an 8-foot pit.
Does it feel like we’ve shown too many hoisted zebras, horses and ziplining donkeys?

Let Us Do Good Village Welcomes a Local Hero
Once again, a great showing by a great organization. This week, Tampa Master Police Officer Christopher LaFramboise became the first local first responder to receive a mortgage-free smart home in Land O’ Lakes’ Let Us Do Good Village. After 29 years of service with the Pasco Sheriff’s Office and Tampa Police and a medical retirement following three strokes, Chris and his family now have a safe, accessible place to call home, surrounded by neighbors who understand what it means to serve.
Organizations like Tunnel to Towers hold a special place in the community. They don’t just step in for people in need, they take care of those who have poured their heart and soul into protecting their brothers and sisters.
In Let Us Do Good Village, Chris joins a community of veterans, first responders, and Gold Star families who share a deep bond of service and sacrifice. Here, every neighbor knows the weight of the uniform, the value of camaraderie, and the comfort of living among those who truly understand. A strong show of community spirit.

Looking for a furry best friend?
Pasco County Animal Services is waiving all adoption fees through Saturday to help with overcrowding. They send us an adoptable “best friend” every week, and right now they could use a hand finding loving homes. Fees include spay/neuter, vaccinations, and a microchip, and over 200 pets are waiting.
If you would like to showcase your brand or event in front of thousands of locals, feel free to reply or reach out through the link above.

New Tech Aims to Keep Pasco Traffic Moving
Not that I’ve heard about any of this online anywhere…but it feels like Pasco County is continuing to grow. In response, the county’s traffic team is rolling out the Miovision detection system, which connects directly to traffic signals, monitors real-time conditions, and adjusts light timing to reduce delays. With 126 cameras feeding into the county’s traffic center, operators can also make manual changes during rush hours and school traffic.

Residents can help by reporting problem spots through the county’s Transportation Request Form, which has already led to changes in intersection operations, lane layouts, and speed limits.

Hope Kennedy Joins Elite Group of Certified Chamber Executives
Congratulations, Hope!
North Tampa Bay Chamber President & CEO Hope Kennedy has earned the Certified Chamber Executive (CCE) designation, a national credential held by fewer than 3% of chamber leaders. Awarded at the 2025 Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives conference in Philadelphia, the title recognizes years of leadership, rigorous review, and peer sponsorship. Under Hope’s leadership, the Chamber has become a regional powerhouse, building strong partnerships and even helping stabilize the Greater Pasco Chamber.

Hope is also leading efforts to explore Wesley Chapel’s possible incorporation. Fundraising has restarted for an economic impact study to determine if incorporation is feasible.
Amalie Arena Gets a New Name
This news is everywhere so I’m sure you’ve heard, but after 11 years, the home of the Tampa Bay Lightning will now be called Benchmark International Arena. The change comes through a new naming rights agreement with Tampa-based mergers and acquisitions firm Benchmark International. Along with the rebrand, the company will donate over $3 million to local nonprofits, with community events planned for mid-October to celebrate.
You’d better, if you’re taking away the Amalie name. I’m sure they’ll endear themselves to the community.

I’m pretty easygoing, which might be why I love this market so much. Tiki Cove on a Saturday night just feels right with live music drifting over the water, a beautiful view, and a market full of great finds. Add in tasty food and games the whole family can enjoy, and you’ve got yourself the perfect evening.
