I’m sure you noticed the last newsletter landed about eight hours earlier than usual. I meant to schedule it for 6am Tuesday like normal, but I accidentally tapped “Publish Now” instead. Just like that, we had our first evening edition of North Tampa Buzz.

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving yesterday. Enjoy every minute with your loved ones this weekend. And if your willpower has already taken a couple of hits, you’re definitely not alone.

Big Infrastructure Win for the SR 52 Corridor

This is a big win and honestly something our area has needed for a while. If you’ve driven down 52 during a busy part of the day, you’ve probably felt how much pressure all this growth is putting on that corridor.

Pasco County and a group of corridor developers have approved a joint funding agreement to upgrade water and sewer infrastructure along the SR 52 corridor between Ehren Cutoff and I-75. This area has struggled with limited utility capacity, and coordinating the work with the Florida DOT’s upcoming road widening will help reduce costs, avoid extra road disruptions, and support future development.

The project is expected to serve nearly 16,000 residential units and will be built in phases over the next decade, with the county planning to recover much of its share through a utility surcharge. Commissioners also approved renaming the Dade City Senior Center in honor of Wilton Simpson and advancing plans for a new regional recreation and veterans center in East Pasco.

Chick-fil-A Is Planning Its First Dade City Location

It looks like Dade City is finally getting its own Chick-fil-A. According to a recent report from the Tampa Bay Business Journal, the company has filed plans for a full-service restaurant in the city, complete with a roughly 5,000-square-foot building and a double drive-thru. This would be the first Chick-fil-A inside Dade City limits, and it’s already getting plenty of attention from local residents.

While the article itself is now behind a paywall, multiple public summaries confirm the project is moving through early planning stages. It appears to be going up between Jarret Ford and Winn Dixie across from the Walmart entrance.

A New Kind of Belk Is Coming to Town

This was mentioned a little while back but we didn’t have as much detail as we do now. The company picked just two cities in the entire country, Frisco, Texas and right here at The Grove in Wesley Chapel, to debut its brand-new Belk Market concept. It’s a smaller, curated version of the department store you already know, with merchandise picked specifically for our area. Think apparel, shoes, home décor, accessories, and jewelry, all arranged in an easy-to-shop layout.

The grand opening is set for Saturday, December 13, and Belk says the new format will feel fresher, quicker to browse, and more personalized to what local shoppers actually want. Pretty exciting to be one of the two test markets in the U.S.

Holiday Tree Auction at the Carrollwood Cultural Center

The holiday trees are back in Carrollwood, and they’re helping families in a big way. The Carrollwood Cultural Center is hosting its annual Holiday Trees Display & Auction now through December 14. You can walk through the lobby to see dozens of themed Christmas trees and place bids online for your favorites.

All proceeds support the Tom Jones Tuition Assistance Fund, which helps local kids attend summer camp at reduced or no cost. The fundraiser carries extra meaning this year after the center lost a substantial amount of state funding, making community support more important than ever.

The display is open during business hours and during classes and events. The online auction runs around the clock through 9 p.m. on December 14. If you want to check out the trees or place a bid, visit carrollwoodcenter.org.

A brand-new holiday tradition is kicking off at Starkey Barn with saxophonist Kyle Schroeder’s inaugural Kyle’s Christmas on the Farm. This one-night Christmas concert mixes smooth jazz, holiday favorites, a toy drive for local kids, and a cozy farm setting that feels like pure Christmas magic. There is an entry fee and wristbands can’t be used for re-entry.
