Good Morning From Lutz,

It’s finally time for the weekend! There’s nothing to worry about in the tropics but they certainly are becoming a bit more active. Denis Phillips says that, as expected, their chances of developing continue to drop:

With the active tropics, that usually means it’s pumpkin spice season. Enjoy!

Let’s also take a second to clear something up! I received a few messages saying the Einstein Bros. in Land O’ Lakes wasn’t accepting the free breakfast sandwich with purchase promotion.

Good news! I got in touch with the GM, or rather he reached out to me, and it turns out there was simply some internal confusion about the promotion. He was incredibly helpful, apologized for the mix-up, and confirmed that they ARE accepting it!

I’ll be testing it out myself this weekend just to make sure everything is running smoothly. So if you made the trip out there and weren’t able to use the promotion, it’s been straightened out, and you can go grab your FREE delicious Einstein Bros. breakfast sandwich!

Alright, that’s a long intro, enjoy your weekend!

-Mike

Restaurants between Tampa Premium Outlets and Shops at Wiregrass

You might wonder why it’s on a Tuesday. The software team that helps with this recommends it because restaurants usually are already filling up naturally on Fridays and Saturdays. Same with bars. But, I promise we will give it a shot after the first one is under our belt!

Just 11 days away and spots are filling up, check out our Instagram reel and reserve your spot.

Highlights

Disney Character Warehouse Coming to Lutz

Disney fans, this one is a pretty fun addition close to home. Some of our neighbors are likely to lose their minds over this…in a good way. A new Disney Character Warehouse is coming to Tampa Premium Outlets at 2300 Grand Cypress Drive in Lutz, giving local shoppers a much closer option for discounted Walt Disney World merchandise.

The outlet stores carry overstock and retired Disney merchandise that was previously sold in the parks, including clothing, toys, collectibles, home goods and seasonal items. Disney currently operates two Character Warehouse locations in Orlando, which means this will be the third location.

There’s no opening date or exact suite announced yet, but Disney has already posted jobs specifically for the Tampa Premium Outlets store, so this one is definitely moving forward. We’ll keep an eye out for the opening date.

New Dog Park Honors Local History

We hear plenty about development around here, but every once in a while, there’s a sweet little reminder of what was here before. Vida’s Way has opened Fudge & Rusty’s Dog Park, named after two beloved dogs from the DePue family, whose ranch once occupied the land.

The DePue family transferred 350 acres to Pulte Homes, and pieces of the ranch’s history have been worked into the community, including street names and now the dog park. You’ll find Vida’s Way by Pulte Homes at Watergrass Pkwy & Cypress Bend Dr., Wesley Chapel, FL 33545.

Huge Japanese Lifestyle Store Opens Nearby

Here’s a fun new spot to explore if you’re into Japanese snacks, collectibles or finding things you probably won’t see at your normal grocery store. Ebisu Life Store is opening its largest Tampa Bay location at 6234 Commerce Palms Drive in Tampa Palms.

The grand opening is Friday at 10a, with special deals and giveaways including snack bags, cosmetics, blind boxes and more. Ebisu was founded in Japan in 2013 and carries imported Japanese candy, drinks, snacks, collectibles and other Asian goods.

I don’t know what to expect, I’m a little intrigued, and we’ll have to find out. Here is a post from Ebisu.

Check Your Account for Tariff Refunds

Money is good! Here’s one worth checking your bank or credit card statement for. Floridians who directly paid tariffs on packages ordered from overseas last year may now be getting some of that money back.

FedEx, UPS and DHL have started returning tariff refunds as they receive them from the government. There’s no application required, and eligible refunds are being sent automatically to the card or bank account originally charged. FedEx also has a way to check eligibility using your package tracking number.

School Zone Speed Cameras Considered in Pasco

Well this obviously isn’t in the highlights section and normally we just focus on the good stuff but this is worth keeping an eye on. If you’re my neighbor in Lutz, you use these cameras to try to set the high score (looking at you, Ashley). County commissioners are considering adding cameras in school zones that would catch vehicles speeding through them.

Nothing has been finalized yet. If commissioners decide to move forward, there would be a 30-day grace period before tickets begin, giving drivers some time to get used to the new enforcement.
