Good Morning From Lutz. It was a weird week. So:
Generals gather in your masses
Cue the running leg drop, brother
And think about what Clair would say to Theo right about now
Come on by and we’ll “harmonize” to Ozzy for the weekend.
In this edition of the North Tampa Buzz:
🛤️ A 37-mile trail from Trinity to Trilby takes a big step forward

Send this to your neighbor who tore off his Hulkamania tee in the rain while Ozzy wailed from the porch speaker.
If you visit the calendar (I suggest it), “Schedule” view makes it easier, and everything is listed down below as well.

AdventHealth With More Award-Winning Local Care
AdventHealth Zephyrhills just earned a national Lantern Award for emergency care. Only 96 ERs in the entire country received it this year, and this one’s the first in our region to bring it home. That says a lot about the kind of care they’re offering right here in town.

They’ve also rolled out things like InQuickER, where you can check in online and wait from home if it’s not a major emergency. Their team handles everything from heart attacks to pediatric care, and they’re setting a pretty high bar. Definitely one of those local wins that makes you feel a little more confident about where we live.

Free Food Distribution in Spring Hill
A free community food distribution will take place on Wednesday, August 20 at 9:00 a.m. at Shady Hills Mission Chapel in Spring Hill (15925 Green Glen Ln). Hosted by the Pasco Sheriff’s Office and several local partners, the event is first-come, first-served and a good resource for anyone in need of a little extra help.

$676 Million Relief Package for Florida Agriculture
The USDA announced a $675.9 million block grant headed to Florida to help farmers bounce back from the past two years of hurricanes. The funding will help cover crop losses, damaged infrastructure, and market hits that weren’t covered by other relief programs.
Citrus, timber, and food producers will be able to apply through Florida’s ag department. It’s a big win for folks working the land and keeping our food supply strong.
Heads up on storm repair permits
If you’re still working on repairs from last year’s hurricanes, Pasco County’s fee waiver for storm-related permits ends July 31. After that, regular permitting fees will apply again.

The county’s been covering the cost for things like roof repairs, fences, and other storm damage, which is about $3 million in waived fees so far. If you’ve been meaning to get that paperwork done, now’s the time. You can apply online or stop by the permitting office for help before the deadline.
The Orange Belt Trail Is Moving Forward
I’m looking forward to sharing this route with you. Pasco is making big strides on the long-awaited Orange Belt Trail. It’s a 37-mile paved path stretching from Trinity to Trilby, connecting communities like Odessa, Land O’ Lakes, Wesley Chapel, and Dade City. The trail would follow parts of the old railway line and tie into major systems like the Coast-to-Coast and Suncoast Trails.

County leaders just narrowed it down to four proposed routes and are deep in the design phase. Once a final path is chosen, they’ll move toward trailheads, rest areas, and phased construction.
