Moffitt Campus Called a Major Win for Land Oâ Lakes
Florida Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson recently spoke with Floridaâs Voice Radio about the massive new Moffitt Cancer Center campus, Speros FL, and he didnât hold back on what it could mean for our region.

He called it a âworld-class innovation hubâ and described its potential to save tens of thousands of lives each year through cutting-edge treatment and research. Just as important, Simpson highlighted how the project could transform the local economy, creating more than 10,000 high-paying jobs over the next two decades.
With its location in Land Oâ Lakes and its proximity to major airports, Speros FL is positioned to attract national talent and biotech partnerships that put Pasco County on the map in a big way.
Community Spotlight: Odessa Animal Sanctuary
Right here in our corner of the world, Odessa Animal Sanctuary is doing something truly special. Led by Co-Founder Andy Kline and Director Karen Ann Holland, this nonprofit provides lifelong sanctuary to unwanted, abandoned, or neglected animals. Today, they care for over 450 animals.

âAt Odessa Animal Sanctuary, our mission is giving animals forever homes and educating the public about the cruelty of animal homelessness. We work hard to raise awareness about the challenges they face.â
While most animals are not available for adoption, the sanctuary does occasionally have bunnies in need of loving homes. They also welcome animal sponsorships, which help provide food, medical care, and safe shelter for their residents.
âIt takes approximately $25,000 each month to care for the animals at our sanctuary, and every sponsorship, no matter the size, makes a meaningful impact.â

Clean Freak Car Wash Invests $1.5M in Eco-Friendly Technology
If you've been on local Facebook groups lately, you've probably seen a sarcastic comment or two about new car washes popping up in Wesley Chapel. Well, here's the latest: Clean Freak Car Wash has opened two new locations in the area:
32359 Overpass Road, Wesley Chapel, FL 33545
31373 FL-54, Wesley Chapel, FL 33545

Both locations are now open daily from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, offering a range of wash packages, including their âUltimate Total Protectionâ plan featuring ceramic coating, hot wax, and tire shine services. They also provide free vacuums for customers.
They are offering free washes from Friday, June 6 through Sunday, June 8 at their new location: 31373 FL-54, Wesley Chapel.
As part of their Rapid Pass membership, customers can also save up to 20¢ per gallon at Circle K and get access to monthly deals and perks. Even Yahoo Finance picked up their press release.

Update: Community Shows Up for Deputy Buddy Allman
We mentioned this event earlier, and now hereâs how it went. Over the weekend, the community came together at the Rotary Concourse Pavilion in Spring Hill to support Pasco Deputy Buddy Allman, who nearly drowned in the line of duty and spent three weeks in a coma.

There was live music, raffles, and vendors, and most importantly, a powerful show of support. Deputy Allman even made a surprise appearance and thanked the crowd for standing by him during his recovery.
A GoFundMe is still active to help with his ongoing medical expenses.
Threeâs a Trend: Another Lagoon Planned
They say great things come in threes, so why stop at just two manmade lagoons? Not to be outdone, Angeline is planning its own. The 6,200-acre community off SR 52 near the Suncoast Parkway has a MetroLagoon included in its long-term vision.
Construction hasnât started yet, but the lagoon is expected to be a major feature, alongside trails, green space, a town center, and the future Moffitt Speros FL campus.
Tampa Bay Makes the âMost Moved-Outâ List
Turns out not everyone is trying to move here, which might come as a surprise given all the chatter about traffic and crowding. According to a recent report by PODS, Tampa Bay is now one of the top areas in the country for outbound moves. That means more people are leaving than arriving, which is a shift from what weâve seen in recent years.
The report didnât get into exact reasons, but rising housing costs and affordability challenges are likely factors. Itâs a reminder of how quickly the area has grown and how that growth affects different communities in different ways. Which weâve definitely been exposed to around here.
