22 Hours of Hockey, Nearly $100K Raised

A lot more than hockey was happening at AdventHealth Center Ice in Wesley Chapel last weekend. The sixth annual Hockey Heals 22 tournament brought veterans, first responders, Lightning alumni, and local supporters together for 22 straight hours on the ice, raising more than $90,000 for veteran mental health and suicide prevention programs.

The event has grown so much that organizers had to turn teams away this year. Proceeds will benefit local nonprofits that support veterans through mental health retreats and outdoor programs, with the next Hockey Heals 22 tournament already scheduled for June 26-27, 2027.

Sheriff Warns Of Jury Duty Scam

Pasco residents are being warned about a jury duty scam making the rounds. According to the Pasco Sheriff's Office, scammers are posing as deputies and telling people they missed jury duty and must pay a fee immediately through services like PayPal, Zelle, or Bitcoin.

Officials say these calls are not legitimate. The Sheriff's Office does not handle jury duty notifications and will never contact residents to demand payment over the phone. If you receive one of these calls, hang up and do not send money.

Pasco County Animal Services Presents: Girl

Girl (A043427) Hey Girl, hey! Girl is a 4yo spayed mixed breed weighing 41lbs. Girl came to PCAS as a stray at the beginning of February. She started to experience kennel stress, and our Advocacy Team assigned Girl as a Project Pet – Girl has been receiving extra enrichment & training, and it has been doing wonders for her!  She is calmer in her kennel, and our team has taught her to sit on command & how to refrain from jumping on people. Girl is an example of a dog who did not receive the love and care she needed from her owner. Now that she is getting that TLC from our team & volunteers, we would love to see Girl find her forever!

$214 Million Hospital Expansion Planned

Healthcare access is getting a major boost in the Carrollwood area. AdventHealth Carrollwood has announced a $214 million expansion that will add a new six-story patient tower, expanded surgical services, a new cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology lab, and a new parking garage.

Hospital leaders say the project is designed to keep up with Hillsborough County’s rapid growth and bring more specialized care closer to home. Construction is expected to begin soon, with the parking garage opening first and the new tower projected to welcome patients in 2029.

New Publix Site Work Begins

If you've driven down Wiregrass Ranch Boulevard lately, you may have noticed some activity. Crews have officially started clearing land for a new Publix-anchored shopping center near State Road 54, marking the first visible construction on a project that's been working its way through planning for years.

The development will include a nearly 49,000-square-foot Publix, a Publix Liquors, and additional retail space. Importantly, this is not replacing the existing Hollybrook Plaza Publix. Both stores are expected to remain open, giving Wesley Chapel two Publix locations less than a half-mile apart. The new center is currently projected to open in the third quarter of 2027.
